On this glorious 8th of September Anno Societatis 47,  We, Andreas, King of Aethelmearc and Kallista, beautiful and wise Queen, proclaim to all present that  Darian of the Rhydderich Hael is a deserving warrior.   He has served as heavy weapons champion and bested much bigger and practiced fighters at the 7 Pearls Tournament at War Practice this year. Because of this exceptional skill and desire to encourage others to be their best, it is Our wish to induct him into the most noble Order of the Golden Alce at Summer’s End in the Canton of Beau Fleuve.

Let it be known unto all to whom these present letters come that We, Carolus and Isloda, Baron and Baroness of the Rhydderich have seen and used many of the wonderful works of Maestro Augusto Giuseppe da San Donato.  For his hands are never idle, his skill in Woodwork and Metal crafting has not only given the Barony useful items, but beauty as well.

It is Our wish he shall receive all honors and privileges conveyed by this rank as the newest member of the Order of the Golden Bee.

In testimony whereof We have set Our hands this 8th day of September, Anno Societatis 47, at this Summer’s End in the Canton of Beau Fleuve

Andreas, King by Right of Arms and Kallista, Queen of Beauty and
Mercy, decree that Sumayya al Ghaziyah, by virtue of her prowess of

More scrolls

O hear these words
how excellent is thy name in all these Sylvan lands!
who hast set thy skills for all the populace.

Out of the mouths of friends
and because of thine enemies,
that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger

When We consider thy deeds, the work of thy fingers,
        cloth and needle, which thou hast ordained;

what is woman, that thou art mindful of her?
and how should she be recognized?

For that hast made her worthy of notice
and We Khalek and Bronwyn Awarded Arlee the Assassin Arms.

Thou shall be known as Lady and be call that
with all rights and privileges of that title.

For you stand as an example for all of AEthelemearc

by thou passion for dance,  skill with blade and love of land.

For when help is needed, you answer that call. Many hands make light work.    Most importantly, you have kept safe our precious Queen from foe and danger as she travels through the lands.
For such dedication to these Sylvan lands we name you newest member of the Order of the Keystone with all rights and privileges to wear the badge of the Order.

A&S Display Pennsic 41

I was fortunate enough to have a spot at the A&S Display this year representing AEthelmearc.  I had a wonderful time.  And I was very lucky to meet some wonderful people.  Several Peers, a Queen and  many of the populace.

One comment I kept receiving was  WOW...  I don't think my stuff is WOW.. its not bad.  But many said "exquisite" and "beautiful".  I am flattered and honored to represent my Kingdom and my Barony.  HAEL YEAH!!

Home from War

I am home from the Great Pennsic War 41.  And I did some things I never thought I would.
1) I talked to a Queen
2) I taught 10 people
3) I court heralded.
4) I took a class
5) I learned a new skill

I am exhausted.  Pictures to come as soon as I find the cord for the camera.

New Project

I'll be sitting at the Pennsic A & S display this year and well, it would be nice if I had a display piece.  All my pieces have been given away.  Makes it difficult to show my work huh?  So I decided to an illumination piece only using period pigment and gold.
Sketch of the piece.  Its about 5x7

Added in the Fish Glue

Gold Leaf.. not my favorite thing to do.

Base layer of the painting.  I'm using Period Pigments only...

So far, it's coming along nicely.
