I am home from the Great Pennsic War 41. And I did some things I never thought I would.
1) I talked to a Queen
2) I taught 10 people
3) I court heralded.
4) I took a class
5) I learned a new skill
I am exhausted. Pictures to come as soon as I find the cord for the camera.
I'm a member of the SCA and I thought it wise to keep track of all things A&S here. So enjoy the works in progress and I hope you find something useful!

New Project
I'll be sitting at the Pennsic A & S display this year and well, it would be nice if I had a display piece. All my pieces have been given away. Makes it difficult to show my work huh? So I decided to an illumination piece only using period pigment and gold.
Sketch of the piece. Its about 5x7
Added in the Fish Glue
Gold Leaf.. not my favorite thing to do.
Base layer of the painting. I'm using Period Pigments only...
So far, it's coming along nicely.

New Garb
Once its completed, I'll post pictures BUT I made the leap and I am making a new Linen dress. 2 colors black and green for the barony. Its almost done, maybe a few hours more on it. Based on the Burda 7977 pattern - a nice look here: http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/patterns/sewingpatterns.pl?patternid=12986

its a Hobby....
I need to keep reminding some people that this thing we do is a hobby. For a lot, its more. But for the rest of us, its a HOBBY. I get to sew, embroider, paint, throw axes, cook, drink, camp and listen to a lot of "No shit!! I was there!" stories from the field.
I do this because I want to. When it stops being fun, I don't want to do it. So with that, I will Serve when I want to, not because I have to. I will paint when my hand allows. I will sit and watch the Tournaments and cheer on the Hael. I will skip an event because the house needs attention. I will learn a new skill and see what I can do with it. I will not be told what to do.
There are times when you need to step back for a few and let the dust settle. I am burnt out. And yet I have a bunch of little projects I would love to be able to sit down and finish!!! So I now declare, I will follow in the steps of my Mistress and RELAX!! She is the wisest bird I know and trust her. She has taught me to trust myself and its okay to say no.

new projects
I started embroidering since calligraphy has been very hard on my hand.
This is something I did in a very short period of time. not bad.

made of win
I won!!!! Dancing Needle held a contest and I won!! So excited... new patterns from Sublime Stitching and a purple hoop. can't wait!!! I love to embroider.. it's one thing that I can do that doesn't really hurt my hand. I have plans on working on my veil more and when I get my arms passed, my squirrel.
