I need to keep reminding some people that this thing we do is a hobby. For a lot, its more. But for the rest of us, its a HOBBY. I get to sew, embroider, paint, throw axes, cook, drink, camp and listen to a lot of "No shit!! I was there!" stories from the field.

I do this because I want to. When it stops being fun, I don't want to do it. So with that, I will Serve when I want to, not because I have to. I will paint when my hand allows. I will sit and watch the Tournaments and cheer on the Hael. I will skip an event because the house needs attention. I will learn a new skill and see what I can do with it. I will not be told what to do.

There are times when you need to step back for a few and let the dust settle. I am burnt out. And yet I have a bunch of little projects I would love to be able to sit down and finish!!! So I now declare, I will follow in the steps of my Mistress and RELAX!! She is the wisest bird I know and trust her. She has taught me to trust myself and its okay to say no.

I won!!!! Dancing Needle held a contest and I won!! So excited... new patterns from Sublime Stitching and a purple hoop. can't wait!!! I love to embroider.. it's one thing that I can do that doesn't really hurt my hand. I have plans on working on my veil more and when I get my arms passed, my squirrel.

Ice Dragon came and went

I don't have much to post on Ice Dragon. I got there late due to a family commitment. Some of my scrolls got given, one was not. A dear friend is now a Lady (hehehehehhehehe) and I ran 3 flights of stairs like 10 times.

Next year, I am not volunteering at all... nothing. I am sitting and enjoying the day. And maybe entering the Pent.

But thats next year. For now, enjoy my scrolls.

The top one is mine.. the bottom the original. Not bad if I say so my self. I only used the light board for the base figures. I have a hard time with human form but all the shading and detail is free hand. For once, I'm proud of it. I think I'll do another one. There is a series of images in the fighting manual that would work well for scrolls.

At the Penn Dixie demo, three of us threw for over 1 hour. Yes, an hour straight. I did manage to get a few 10s. Here's one I was pretty proud of. This was my second 10 (and a 7) on Axes.

My knives were not so good this time round but I did hit the target.

Its now only 12 days until Pennsic. YEAH!!!! The pack list is coming and I need to make sure to bring something to work on. Not to mention something waterproof for the scribal stuff.

Summer's End is looming and I have both scrolls (yes, 2) well underway. One Celtic and the other German. Ideally I wanted them done before I leave but thats not going to happen.

Yeah, its May and I'm just getting around to this now. Ice Dragon went well. I did manage to get a Hael Stone for all the hard work and effort to get the all the scrolls in. I also managed to come down with a severe death plague and missed St. Patrick's day.

Champs is in a month and I have that to look forward to. One scroll only this time thank goodness.

Yeah, its 11:48pm and I just got done running around pulling everything together for tomorrow. Child's garb is set, Hubby's garb is as set as its going to be. Me, I just spent the last hour embroidering the hem on mine. Why? I don't know. That seems to be the norm the night before an event. You'd think I'd learn by now.

Feast gear is set, scrolls are signed and packed, Scribe box is ready and garb is ironed.

Now if I could only get over this damned cold.

I managed to complete a snood by actually following a pattern, well mostly. I realized I improvised too late into the process but it all worked out in the end.

Yes, its Salmon colored but it matches my Salmon Linen.

The color in the photo is off - trust me. Its Salmon.
